Crack a cold one and come along
I’ve been drinking beer since Richard Nixon was president. That’s not an excuse, although I suppose it could be.
I offer that admission only to establish that my knowledge of beer comes honestly — drawn one bottle, one glass, one can, one fishbowl, one pitcher, one keg, one Mason jar at a time over the course of a lifetime.
I drink beer. I brew beer, and I brood about beer. Some of the best times I’ve had, and some of the best friends I’ve made, were a direct result of my affection for the sudsy, malty goodness found at neighborhood bars, country taverns, boutique brewpubs or the corner liquor store. Know this: I love beer, and I want you to love it, too.
Just as no one should drink alone, so should enjoying beer be a communal experience. So, here’s the plan: I’ll tell some stories; I’ll share what I’ve learned; and I’ll learn from you and enjoy your stories. E-mail your beer tales to rspaw@heraldt.com
This ain’t religion, bubby. It’s a blog about beer. So crack a cold one and come along.

A confession: I’m an employee of The Herald Times newspaper in Bloomington, Ind. I was not hired by The Herald Times to write about beer. That just sort of happened when The Herald Times needed beer content for this Web site. I’m happy to oblige, but just so you know: If you see me out and about, and I’m drinking a beer, I’m not on company time. At least, that’s my story, and I’m sticking to it. One more thing: Anything on this blog that resembles an opinion is the sole property of the author and does not reflect the views of my employer.
