About

I’ve been drinking beer since Richard Nixon was president. That’s not an excuse, but I suppose it could be.
I offer that admission only to establish that my appreciation of beer comes honestly — drawn one glass, one bottle, one can, one fishbowl, one pitcher, one keg, one Mason jar at a time over the course of a lifetime.
I drink beer. I brew beer, and I brood about beer. Some of the best times I’ve had, and some of the best friends I’ve made, were a direct result of my affection for the malty, hoppy goodness available at neighborhood bars, country taverns, boutique brewpubs or the corner liquor store. Know this: I love beer, and I want you to love it, too.
Just as no one should drink alone; so should enjoying beer be a communal experience. So, here’s the plan: I’ll tell some stories, share what I’ve learned, and I’ll learn from you and hear your stories. E-mail beer tales to rspaw@heraldt.com.
This ain’t religion, bubby. It’s a blog about beer. So crack a cold one and enjoy.

A confession: I’m an employee of The Herald-Times newspaper in Bloomington, Ind. I am not employed by The Herald-Times to write about beer As it happens, The Herald-Times needed some beer content for this Web site. I am happy to oblige, but just so you know: If you run into me out and about and I’m enjoying a beer, I’m not on company time. At least, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
